How to Use Peel and Stick Wall Decals

I popped into this local home decor boutique and fell in love with one of their styled walls (you can see it in that post). What I was drawn to was the black and white pattern on the wall. Turns out it was a peel and stick wall treatment. I picked some up to bring home not knowing where I would use them. After several months, I finally added the decals to my 13 year old daughter’s bathroom nook. She had the perfect little wall that needed some attention! Here’s how to use peel and stick wall decals to any space!

Find the Space for Wall Decals

I thought the black wiggly lines I picked up would pack the most punch in a fun space! We recently have been working on updating my teen daughter’s room, so I knew these would be a fun addition to her bathroom sink space where she gets ready. The walls are painted Simply White, which is the perfect backdrop. She loves black and white together! Here’s a photo of the space I wanted to work with. On the opposite side of this wall is her sink, mirror, cabinets, etc. Through the door is her shower and toilet area.

Choosing Your Wall Decals

I picked up these wall decals at a local boutique. This brand, The Lovely Wall, has an Etsy shop with endless amounts of choices! For the small wall I was working with, I only needed one tube of decals.

How to Use Peel and Stick Wall Decals

Let me premise this with the fact that I have never used peel and stick before and have never wallpapered anything. A total newbie here! These could not have been easier to work with! There really are no instructions other than to peel and stick! Ha! If you make a mistake, they easily peel off the wall so you can restick them. I had to peel off and restick several times and I recommend placing them on lightly at first until you are sure where you want them. When the entire wall was done, I pressed them down more firmly.

Placement of Wall Decals

Before starting this project, I knew I wanted to mimic the original way I saw the wiggly lines in the boutique. I did not measure for this project! Being a good “eyeballer” is a strength of mine! Ha! Starting at the top, I added four wiggly lines next to each other. Spacing out accordingly, I finished the project in less than 30 minutes! The wiggly lines are forgiving, so it’s hard for the eye to see if there are any mistakes! I ran out of lines at the bottom of the wall, so the bottom section each have only three wiggly lines each. The utility cart sort of masks it, so I’m okay with it! Again, you can take down and restick if needed, which I definitely had to do after stepping back and looking from farther away.

The Finished Product

Overall, this is a super simple DIY project if you are working with a small space. Little effort, big impact! This is a no-mess project and you will be done in no time!

This little bathroom nook is super small, and these peel and stick wall decals give it a little personality. My daughter’s utility cart sits in front of the wall. We were talking about getting some fun artwork to put above the cart, or possibly some open shelving. Stay tuned for that!

I hope this helps with how to use peel and stick decals. Be careful to measure your space and plan accordingly! One tube of the decals did not go very far. I’m loving the finished product! You can find my post on 17 ways to use a utility cart like the one seen here. XO
